Our Cows
Happy Herefords

Originating in Herefordshire, England in the mid-18th century, Herefords are a striking breed with red and white coats that can live and calve well beyond 15 years. Known for their manageable temperament—though sometimes a bit impatient or nervous—these cattle are excellent foragers and can thrive in harsh weather conditions.

The Friendly Acres herd began in 1994 with just four heifers. Currently, we have a strong and thriving herd of around 25, with new calves born each year. We take great care in selecting the ideal bull for breeding, ensuring healthy, robust stock for the future of our farm.
Farm to Table
While raising animals for consumption can be a sensitive topic, local farms provide the most humane and sustainable method of producing beef. At Friendly Acres, our cattle enjoy a free-range lifestyle during the warm months, grazing on open fields and naturally fertilizing the land as they go. During the winter, they are cared for in the barn, where they birth their calves in a safe and comfortable environment.

When it's time for market, we work with trusted local butchers. Individual cuts are processed by a USDA-certified butcher to meet regulatory standards, while bulk or quarter orders are handled by our family butcher. This process ensures transparency and care at every step.

Our commitment to the humane treatment of our animals results in high-quality beef you can feel good about serving your family. By purchasing locally raised beef, you’re not just enjoying a healthier, fresher product—you’re also supporting local farmers, stimulating the local economy, and helping sustain farms like ours for generations to come.
