Our History
1890

The original farmhouse was constructed on the property. Hand-hewn beams, a testament to the craftsmanship of the era, can still be seen when you look up in the cellar. The farmhouse still stands today as the primary residence on our farm.
1953
Owen & Betty Baker purchased the beautiful property to raised their four children. Raising a range of animals including dairy cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens, Friendly Acres began as a proper homestead of the era.

1992
Doug Diehl purchased the farm from his grandparents and started his herd with just four heifers. Betty and Owen continued living in their home, working and enjoying the farm land alongside their grandson, helping to establish the foundation of the Friendly Acres you see today.

1994-2000
Doug plants his first Christmas Trees. On average, these trees would take around 7-10 years to mature to a 6-7ft height. The first Christmas Tree from Friendly Acres was sold in 2000!

Today
Today, Friendly Acres sells over 1,000 trees each year, serving as a cornerstone of holiday tradition for locals and visitors alike. Our grass-fed beef is now available by the cut, either directly from us or through our family’s farms. Committed to supporting the community, Friendly Acres remains Sullivan County’s premier destination for Christmas trees and beef.
