#9H After dinner the whole family Ian, Max, Jake and I went down for night check....we welcomed a new heifer into the barn(#9).....With no human help...Thank goodness! All the calves are healthy and eating well. BB (Big bull calf, aka breached calf) is eating well and his weak legs seem to be improving. It's amazing to see how resilient living things can be. 2017 Calving Chronicles Part III
#7B, #8B Wheeewwww what a start to the day! Last night at calving night check, I found one of the ladies in labor. Dad checked on her at 4:00am...No calf. I checked on her at 5:30....No calf. So after dropping the boys off at daycare and school, I came back and put the gloves on....
After palpation we discovered a breached calf. The outcome of having a breached calf being alive is slim especially after the cow was in labor all night or even having a healthy cow after birth.

#5H, #6B Two more this morning! These old ladies are just popping these calves out while eating their breakfast! Maybe it's the crazy temperature changes!!
Max has been going to the barn before bedtime and checking for new calves. Even Jake did a 2:00am calf check with Ian! Let's see what tommorow brings!🐮 Total Calf Count: 3 heifers
